Welcome to St. John's
and El Buen Samaritano!

St. John's and El Buen Samaritano is a place where people's lives are transformed by encountering the love of God in community. Christian faith isn't an idea; it is an experience. We invite you to explore that experience with us through worship, fellowship, and service.

Our lovely building and grounds are also available for rental. Click here for more information.

We HAVE A NEW VICAR!

He'll be familiar to many friends of St. John's because he's a long-time member of our parish and one of our faithful unpaid clergy: the Rev. Richard Smith.

Here's a picture of Richard, taken last week out front of Citibank in downtown San Francisco, where members of St. John's gathered to stop the auction of the Rev. Gloria del Castillo's house.

About us:

St. John’s is one of the oldest Christian communities in San Francisco, established in 1857. El Buen Samaritano, the Spanish-language Episcopal congregation in San Francisco, joined us on Julian Avenue in 2008. While we have deep roots in ancient Christian traditions, we are far from “conventional.” We are a progressive and inclusive parish, full of people who “talk the talk and walk the walk” of our faith through spiritual practice and active commitment to social justice and healing in our broken world.

We’re glad you’re taking some time to get to know us by visiting our web site – but better yet, come visit us soon in person and find out what those More Love buttons are all about!
