Meet Our New Organist and Music Director, Joey Prather!
I am is the new organist and music director at St. John the Evangelist, San Francisco. Though new to the Episcopal music tradition, I'm excited to explore the beautiful music associated with the faith, and to continue the centuries-old tradition of musician for church services. I'm originally from Lexington, Kentucky, and spent 10 years as a pianist and vocal coach for opera and music theater singers in New York City and Portland. In Portland, I served as organist for the Sixth Church of Christ for 5 years. My day job is Composer and Music Supervisor at Blue Scout Music, a small company I founded in 2005 providing music for advertising, television, and film.

…And Our New Seminarian, Abigail Eibin.
"My name is Abigail Eibin. I am second-year Mdiv student at CDSP on the ordination track. I am a postulant from the Diocese of NV, and hail most recently from Reno where I have lived since 2009. In our second year at CDSP, we do a field education internship at a parish. I have chosen St. John's for my field education parish, and will be with you all for the year. My time at CDSP has been transformational in both my spiritual and academic life. Daily chapel and prayer grounds me, and conversations in and outside of class continue to shape me. It makes me feel fully alive, and that's what matters most. When I am not in class, I enjoy riding my bicycle, 'Donkey,' writing poetry, black and white photography, baking/cooking,nature, music, and traveling. I look forward to getting to know each and every one of you."

Looking for a Few Good Vestry Members
Outgoing Vestry members Lauren Chavez and Mark Palcanis are searching for three good people to begin a three year Vestry term in February 2012. Vestry service asks members to hold a big-picture view, while also being hands on in leadership. The Vestry is charged with both managing the practical logistics of running our church, and tending to the spiritual needs of the congregation. This is an exciting time in the life of Saint John's. If you're interested in serving on Vestry, please contact us. We would love to engage in a discernment process with you, and discuss any questions you may have. Conact Lauren or Mark.
